Can I do an in person session?
No all sessions are conducted through video conference (Telemental Health). You have to reside in MD, VA, or DC.
What is Telemental health?
Telemental health goes by many names. It is often referred to as distance counseling, online counseling, telebehavioral health, telemental health, virtual therapy – the list goes on! Overall, these terms refer to receiving therapy/counseling via video or chat. Telehealth has been around for decades and has been proven to be just as effective as traditional in-person services.
Is Telemental health confidential?
I use an encrypted, HIPAA-secure web portal called
Doxy.me for my telelmental health sessions. At the start time of session, you will
click here which will take you to a secure ‘virtual therapy room’ that will feel similar to Skype or Facetime, but provides a higher level of privacy and security. Confidentiality of sessions is treated the same way that it is for in-person therapy.
